Venice - Gondolas, Guggenheim and St Marks Square

The 'water door' at the back of our hotel, which provides access to the canal
Our hotel 'Locanda Antico Fiore' which is right on the canal
Trying to find our way to St Marks Square - it's very easy to get lost here!
The little cafe where we had lunch the first day we were here
Chris perusing the menu - pizza, pasta and gelati have pretty much being our staple food while we've been in Italy
A gondolier paddling down the canal while talking on his mobile phone - not very romantic! Apparently there are 400 gondoliers in the city. There are only a limited amount of gondolier licences, which means someone can only become a gondolier if one of the existing gondoliers dies!
St Marks Basilica - they were doing some work around it while we were there to try and stop it becoming flooded during high tides
View onto St Marks Square
Better view of the basilica from the square - cafes and exquisite jewellery shops line the square
Strolling along the waterfront
Pre-dinner drinks at Cafe Florian - a Venetian institution, which has been operating since 1720
Visiting the Peggy Guggenheim Gallery - we saw works by the likes of Picasso, Bacon, Warhol and Jackson Pollock
Just a  nice pic of Chris hanging out on the canal
Some delicious baked goods for you Rose!
